WELCOME TO BUSLIFE!
This bus has 59,000 original miles, we are only the second owners!
We drove this bus across the country from Indiana to California without a single issue! It even has cruise control and a jump seat with a legal seat belt for a passenger!
It is titled as an RV and ready to be driven away & lived in for any amount of time-- off the grid or connected to shore power!
The bus is completely built out with 100 year old barn wood from a barn we took down. It has tons of storage oversized drawers, cabinets, shelves, closet space, bench seat storage, and a garage access under the queen sized bed that's accessible from the back door. There is also plenty of unused real estate on the roof for cargo racks, yakima boxes, or a deck if you so desire!
The bus is 23ft in length! It fits in a regular parking spot if you back in and let the rear hang over!
WHAT MAKES IT "OFF-GRID"?
This bus has 400 watts of solar, which if you know anything about solar, that's a beefy number! The solar power travels through a charge controller, which keeps the two 12volt deep cycle marine batteries in the "garage" space safely kept at a full charge. Most of the components in the bus are run off DC power from the batteries, but we have also installed an inverter, which converts DC power(USB & 12v plugs) to AC power(standard 120w plugs). We have never run out of power in the bus with this system, but in case you find yourself in very cloudy weather, we've installed a smart Isolator, which is a device that runs from your alternator to the house batteries. Just flip the switch to "on" and your entire system will be charged up while you drive. The smart isolator insures that your car batteries stay safe as well.
Additionally, we installed a shore power box, which allows you to plug the system in by an extension cord when at a campground or residence!
You'll never run out of power with this bus!
The interior height of the bus is 6'4"! The ceiling is even finished with whitewashed palate wood--creating a home-y feel and acting as extra insulation.
The kitchen is equipped with a 2 burner propane stove, a full sized stainless steel sink with a standard faucet and sprayer, and an Edge Star compact AC powered refrigerator with freezer. There is also an 120w outlet for any desired kitchen appliances- it can even run a blender!
There are two five foot countertops for cooking and prepping, a large pull-out table for eating or lounging, and 2 roomy bench seats that easily seat 4 people and open for storage!
For sleeping is a brand new queen sized Slumber One mattress- plenty of room to stretch out and dual cubby space on either side for personal belongings.
We've even installed a combination lock box to store your valuables!
There are 8 LED lights on separate dimmer switches, 4 in the kitchen and 4 in the bedroom.
There is a 20 gallon fresh water tank with a Shurflo pump that runs off the solar, and a 25 gallon grey water tank for water waste.
There are plenty of screened windows for natural light and fresh air, including a Maxx Air ceiling vent fan that can be used while it's raining! For really hot days, there is an AC unit in the back of the bus that cools while the bus is running, and only takes a few minutes to get to temperature!
For cold weather, we have a Little Buddy heater that runs off of the propane tank and is rated safe for indoor use! It makes the bus nice and toasty just before bed or early in the mornings. While the bus is running, there is an axillary heater in the back, and for overnight warmth, an electric blanket can be plugged into the inverter and powered by solar all night long!
The entire bus is insulated with original insulation and then completely finished with wood.
We installed a DC powered Facon heating pad under the holding tank in case of extreme cold weather. This pad is on a switch, but once activated, has automatic thermostat control. It is even rated to thaw out a frozen system.
If you find yourself off-grid, we have a portable camping toilet that's never been used and can be stowed away in one of the cabinets. We boil water on the stove for quick baths, and the sink sprayer is perfect for hair washing.
(Down the road, an outdoor shower can be tapped into the back water tank and propane tank if warm showers are important, and there is also space to dream about a composting toilet in a bench seat or a shower replacing the closet space.)
This bus is brand new and was designed after one that we built out with our daughter. The components have all been researched extensively and specifically chosen as what we consider to be the best.
